Google TV and plain Android TV share the same TiviGlass APK. The Google TV home screen looks different from Fire OS, but the install steps are the same idea: sideload the APK, allow unknown apps once, then connect the IPTV service you already subscribe to.
Google TV Streamer and Chromecast with Google TV
These devices do not include a file manager by default. Install Downloader from the Play Store (or Send Files to TV if you prefer pushing the APK from your phone). In Downloader, go to tiviglass.com/apk, download, and install when prompted.
Android 12+ asks which app may install unknown packages. When the system dialog appears, choose Downloader and allow installs. If you previously denied it, open Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps and enable Downloader there.
Nvidia Shield and generic Android TV boxes
Shield owners often use X-plore File Manager or FX File Explorer. Download the APK on a PC from tiviglass.com/download, copy it to a USB drive or send it over the network, then open the file and confirm install. The same signed APK works on every Android TV device — there is not a separate Shield build.
First launch on Android TV
TiviGlass is built for a remote, not a touchscreen. D-pad navigation is fully supported; you should see focus rings on menus and buttons as you move. If you paired a Bluetooth keyboard, text fields accept typing, but phone sign-in remains faster for long server URLs.
After install, add your playlist under Settings → TV sources. Xtream and Stalker need the portal address and account; M3U needs the playlist URL your provider emailed. Run the connection test before importing so a typo does not waste a twenty-minute catalogue download.
Frame rate and display settings
Many Google TV televisions support Auto Frame Rate. TiviGlass can match the output refresh rate to the broadcast when your TV allows it — look under Settings → Video & audio. If the screen blanks for a second on every channel change, your TV may be slow to resync; turning AFR off for a session is a valid test.
Keeping TiviGlass updated
The app checks for updates on launch when Settings → Updates allows it. You can also revisit tiviglass.com/apk in Downloader; a newer build installs over the old one and keeps your playlists, favourites and settings. Troubleshooting install on Google TV
If the system says App not installed, you may still have an older TiviGlass build signed with a different key — uninstall the old copy first (long-press the icon → App info → Uninstall), then install again. If storage is full, clear cache on unused apps; the APK needs roughly 80 MB free during install.
Play Protect sometimes flags sideloaded IPTV players. TiviGlass is not distributed through the Play Store; the install is intentional. You can still scan the APK at tiviglass.com/download and compare the SHA-256 shown there with the file Downloader saved. Only install from tiviglass.com/apk or the official download page — third-party mirrors are a common source of modified APKs.
Once running, pair a phone for sign-in if typing on the remote is painful: from the TV choose Use phone, scan the code, and finish account setup in the browser. The TV returns to the app automatically when pairing completes.
For Chromecast with Google TV built into a soundbar or TV, the same APK applies — there is no separate television edition. Enable developer options only if you sideload via USB; most users never need that menu.
