What's new

TiviGlass 2.3.0. A big update: smoother video, sound fixes for boxes that lost audio, quicker search, easier getting around with the remote, and a long list of fixes.

New

• Settings reorganised into clearer pages, with search at the top. Moving them around didn't change any of your settings.
• Playback learning switch in Settings > Picture & sound > Fix picture problems. Turn it off and every channel starts on its normal settings. Crash protection stays on either way.
• Try player User-Agent. If your provider refuses a live channel, the Playback failed card can try it once more with a media player's user agent. If that works, it asks whether to keep it.
• Loop lists round. Pressing down on the last item of the menu, Home, a settings page, a list or a picker takes you back to the first, and up on the first takes you to the last. Holding the button still stops at the end. It's on by default, and you can turn it off in Settings > Remote & buttons > What buttons do.
• CH+ and CH- now move a screenful at a time on every screen and popup. Hold one to keep paging. A shortcut you've set on those buttons still wins.
• Page Up and Page Down change channel on live TV, for remotes whose channel buttons send those keys.
• You can favourite channels from any of your services, straight from All Playlists and your own groups.
• Guide rows with no listings now say so, and Missing listings helps you fix them.
• Free trial countdown on Home, with the plans one press away.

Improved

• Much less slow motion and jerky video. TiviGlass used to switch a video format to software decoding for a week after any unexplained close, even the TV being switched off at the wall. Now it only does that when it can see the decoder actually crashed. Old switches like that end when you update. If your picture was jerky until you pressed Reset playback learning, this is the fix.
• Reset playback learning keeps protection after a real crash and tells you the date it ends. If you gave channels their own decoder, it offers to clear those too.
• Less buffering right after you turn the TV on. Automatic updates now wait while you're watching.
• Search should be a lot quicker on big line-ups.
• Back now steps out one level at a time. On Live TV, Movies and Shows, Back opens the groups first, then the main menu, then once more within 3 seconds leaves the app. If you opened the menu yourself, Back just closes it.
• Player menus (More, playback options, sources, subtitles, record) open as a side panel, so the picture stays in view. Popups across the app are tidier and a little smaller.
• The guide's info area beside the preview no longer changes height, so the grid stops jumping as you move between programmes. Press Info for the full details.
• Locked and adult channels ask the same way everywhere. Channel up/down skips them and says how many it skipped. Once you unlock one, it stays unlocked until you leave the app.
• The Sports preview now uses your Even out volume, Boost quiet audio and Surround sound settings, so it plays at the same level as full screen.
• Certificate errors are explained in plain words, and the first thing to check is your TV's date and time.
• Adding a service: the Test now shows what a Stalker portal actually answered. Xtream setup quotes your provider's page when it sends one.
• A new TV signing in waits to take your cloud backup before it backs up anything itself.

Fixed

• No sound on some channels on BuzzTV P6/P6L and other boxes with little audio memory
• Silence when your TV or receiver refuses Dolby or DTS. It now restarts once with the sound decoded on the box.
• Sound going missing when going from the guide to full screen
• Frozen picture or stuck Dolby sound when going full screen with Match TV frame rate on
• Match TV frame rate not changing the refresh rate on Android 11 boxes like the Shield
• Constant buffering when a provider is struggling
• Channels not coming back after a drop with rewind switched on

Good to know

• Match TV frame rate is now off by default. This update turns it off once on every TV. If you use it, turn it back on for each TV. It no longer syncs between TVs.
• Surround sound, Audio passthrough, Adjust sound timing and Even out volume now stay on each TV and no longer sync between TVs.
• If you use a parental PIN, you'll now see prompts in the places you switched them on. That's expected.
• With Send crash reports on, TiviGlass also sends a short, numbers-only summary of how smoothly video played, at most once a week. Nothing you watch is named.

This update adds refreshed themes with animated backgrounds, better live pause and rewind, and group previews in the guide. It also fixes the guide stalling during updates, groups that opened empty, and playback that kept retrying streams that could never play.

• Refreshed the theme gallery. You can now preview a theme before applying it, and there are new Graphite, Amethyst and Cyberpunk-inspired colours plus seven animated backgrounds: Aurora, Deep Current, Ember, Snowfall, Rainfall, Starfield and Autumn. A new Background motion switch turns the animation off, and reduced-motion settings are respected. Themes you saved before still work.
• Reworked live pause and rewind with a rolling buffer on supported streams. Each device can store it in app storage or on a connected USB or SD card.
• Moving between the guide preview and full screen now keeps the same channel, your pause state and your rewind history.
• Added seek steps of 10, 20, 30 or 60 seconds. The remote, the on-screen buttons and touch double-taps all use the same step.
• Added Last Channel to the player's More menu, and physical Last Channel buttons on remotes now work.
• Added optional group previews. Rest on a group to browse its channels while your current channel keeps playing. Previews follow the highlight almost straight away and don't move your place in the list.
• The guide no longer waits for an update to finish. It loads straight away during Update on app start, and you can change groups while an update is running.
• Saved channels now appear before the programme listings finish loading, and a group's channels and schedule appear together.
• Moving down to a channel just below the bottom of the guide now shows that row, instead of jumping a whole screen.
• Up from the first group in the sidebar now reaches Browse, Tools and the controls above them, including with list wrapping on.
• Channels that your provider lists in more than one group now show in all of them. Before this, some groups opened empty even though their channels played fine elsewhere. Adult groups were affected most.
• Added clearer Browse and Tools tabs to the library sidebars, and bulk Show/Hide for channels and groups, including all current filtered results.
• Hidden groups are now restored with Reset all groups in the All channels options, or from Settings > Channels and groups.
• Improved manual guide matching. You can search by channel name, alternative name, guide ID, source or programme title.
• Large TV guide downloads that get interrupted now pick up where they stopped, and each source shows a clearer status.
• M3U setup now lists the available groups before importing, so you can choose what to include.
• When a provider sends a web page or error notice instead of video, playback now stops straight away and shows what the provider said, instead of working through reconnect attempts first. Retry is still there.
• Improved recovery for streams that won't start, slow-starting channels and guide previews on portal services.
• Fixed Multi-view going silent with three or four screens open on some boxes. When you move the sound to another screen, it may skip forward a few seconds.
• The user agent in Settings > This device > Advanced now also applies to recordings and to the Home, Sports and Multi-view previews. Auto-detect now tests several channels, so it picks the right user agent more often.
• Channels from a service with missing sign-in details now show an error straight away.
• On Android 10 and below, including every Fire TV Cube, a format no longer switches to software decoding after one unexplained close. It only switches if the same thing happens again within a day.
• Fixed the next-episode countdown for series autoplay.
• Recordings that get interrupted can now resume on their own, without reopening the app.
• Improved Home shortcuts, library filters, detail pages and layouts on smaller screens, and added visible Options buttons for touch users.
• Improved Stremio phone setup, and changes to your account's TV sources now sync automatically while TiviGlass is open.
• Cloud backup now shows a clearer status, and there's a local backup option for TVs whose file picker can't save files. If your sign-in details can't be encrypted at that moment, backup now stops and tells you instead of saving them unencrypted.
• You can now delete your account from inside the app.
• Adult categories now ask for age confirmation when no parental PIN is set.
• General reliability and security improvements.

This update lets you choose which screens TiviGlass opens on, mixes different TV services in Multi-view, and fixes several causes of failed background updates, lost data and choppy playback.

• Added Startup screen and Home tiles: choose the screen TiviGlass opens on and which rows appear on Home, saved per profile on each device.
• Added Movies opens to and Shows opens to, alongside Live TV opens to, with All, Last used group, Favourites, All Playlists, Watchlist, History and Recently added.
• Live TV can now also open on one of your TV service's own groups, so a family TV can start on the kids' group.
• Multi-view can now mix channels from different TV services, including services that allow only one connection at a time. Choosing a channel for one pane leaves your other panes playing.
• Added Choose groups to the TV Guide to browse several groups together.
• Added Playing channel to jump back to the channel that is playing, without restarting it or moving the guide time.
• Added a Channel list to the player: search your current channel order by name or number while playback continues.

• Improved TV Guide matching, including a scan that can refresh your guide sources before it runs.
• Catch-Up now continues into the next programme instead of stopping at the end of the one you chose.
• Improved frame-rate matching, including on older boxes.
• Added Reload episodes for shows whose episode list did not load fully.
• Premium: improved Fusion source switching, and a recording that loses its source can now continue from another one automatically.
• Linking an OpenSubtitles account now uses your OpenSubtitles.com sign-in details, with clearer messages when it fails.
• On the website, you can now edit a playlist's live favourites for each profile from your account, and purchase confirmations are emailed after checkout.
• Fixed automatic updates restarting from the beginning when Android stopped them part way. Large movie and show libraries are now fetched in shorter passes that carry on where the last one stopped, and the TV guide is refreshed first.
• Fixed background updates never running at all on some boxes, along with a crash on those devices. Updates that begin while the device is offline are now skipped rather than repeated.
• Added Last update, per source under automatic playlist updates. A playlist whose channel update keeps failing now pauses on its own and says why, while its TV guide keeps updating.
• A damaged local database is now repaired instead of deleted, so saved channels, recordings, parental locks and watch history are no longer lost.
• Fixed choppy playback, out-of-sync sound and an unexpected message about switching to another version of a channel after an unrelated crash or force stop. Hardware decoding is no longer turned off for a week in those cases.
• Fixed recordings that could stay stuck on "Recording now" after the app closed, which blocked later recordings until TiviGlass was restarted.
• Fixed Back not responding in some full-screen playback situations.
• Android's Remove animations setting is now respected throughout, including the LIVE dot, padlocks and long scrolling names.
• Fixed some M3U playlists being sorted into the wrong sections, and improved large pasted playlists, playlist sync, TV source setup, search results and duplicate-channel handling.
• General reliability and security improvements.

This update fixes a bug from 2.2.6 that could show paid Premium and Essentials features as locked, even on fully active, fully paid accounts.

• Fixed some paid features appearing locked throughout the app after updating to 2.2.6, despite an active paid plan.
• Your account and payment were never affected; this only affected what the app displayed. No action is needed after updating.

This update improves live TV playback, remote controls and everyday navigation.

• Fixed an issue where Back could stop responding during live TV on Fire TV Cube.

Cloud sync fixes

2.2.1 corrects the TV service sync fault reported after 2.2.0, restores fast channel changing on large line-ups, and makes recordings and provider problems explain themselves properly.

Important fixes

Fixed TV services being removed one at a time after signing in or syncing on 2.2.0. A service is now only removed when you delete it, never because it was missing from a single update. The opposite fault, where one service was duplicated repeatedly across your devices, is fixed too.
Channel changing is fast again on large line-ups.
Fixed live audio stopping on every channel after opening the TV Guide or changing channel.
Fixed a channel that failed to play leaving its error behind after you moved on, which could block D-pad channel changing and leave the next channel buffering.

Recordings

Maximum simultaneous recordings has moved to the main Recordings page. It still starts at 1, because each recording uses one of your provider's connections, and so does whatever you are watching.
When two programmes overlap and only one can record, TiviGlass now says so beforehand under Scheduled and afterwards as a Not recorded entry, naming the limit and where to change it.
Turning Recording off now refuses new timers and Series Links and says so, instead of accepting one that could never run.
Network share recordings now report the real reason for a failure, and a share that briefly drops can no longer truncate a recording in progress.

Picture and sound

Auto frame rate has moved to the main Playback page with clearer wording, and no longer switches repeatedly between 24 and 25 fps.
The Stats overlay and Self diagnostics now show whether the decoder in use is hardware or software, the picture's colour description and audio output, so a picture or sound fault can be identified from one screen.
A provider refusal quoting HTTP 403 now suggests trying a different network or a VPN first.
Fixed green or tinted video in Multi-view.

TV services and updates

A large service now shows that it is still importing, with the option to leave it running, instead of appearing to have found no channels.
Failed refreshes now explain what actually happened, and an incomplete provider response keeps the library you already have.
Search is quicker and no longer comes up empty while an update is running.
Older TV boxes with an out-of-date certificate store can now reach providers using modern security certificates.

Cloud sync

Custom channel numbers now sync between your TVs.
Stalker, playlist file and Stremio services now arrive complete on a new TV when it signs in, as Xtream services already did.
Fixed saved provider logins being stored unreadably when the sync encryption key could not be fetched.
Two identical boxes on one account now keep their own remote profile and navigation layout.

What’s new

• Added a new Show and hide channels mode to the TV Guide. Channels remain visible with open or closed eye icons while you organise them, with the schedule displayed alongside.
• Multi-select in the Guide can now hide several channels at once, as well as add them to Favourites.
• Channel-management lists now include search and All, Shown and Hidden filters, making it easier to recover a channel hidden by mistake.
• The fullscreen player now includes a Recently watched channels row for quickly returning to another channel.
• The Kids Hub can now filter programmes by age group.
• Support-session codes now remain available for one hour, giving you more time to connect with support.

• Returning to the Sports Hub no longer repeats a full Guide scan when recent results are already available.

• Settings search now separates matching settings from matching pages and provides clearer suggestions when nothing is found.
• The Guide now combines offline, missing-source and active-filter information into one compact status area.
• Programme artwork and full descriptions load more consistently when moving through the Guide.

Playback and recording

• Scheduled recordings now wake sleeping devices more reliably, reducing the chance of missing the beginning of a programme.
• Late-starting recordings now stop at their intended finishing time instead of running into the next programme and potentially blocking another recording.
• Auto frame-rate matching now avoids display-mode changes that would visibly interrupt a channel change.
• Recordings always open in TiviGlass, even when an external player is selected.
• External-player settings now fall back clearly to the built-in player when Premium access is unavailable.
• Improved playback from Sports and other cross-service areas so the correct TV service and credentials are used.
• Improved OSD Back-button behaviour and handling of invalid stream information.

Fixes and reliability

• Hiding a channel no longer sends the Guide back to the top of the list; focus moves to the nearest remaining channel.
• Switching or removing a TV service can no longer wait indefinitely behind a stalled background update. TiviGlass now stops safely and explains when to try again.
• Improved startup responsiveness after installing an update by keeping heavy background refresh work away from profile loading.
• User-Agent detection now shows progress and distinguishes a slow provider from an unreachable one more accurately.
